About .pub to PDF conversion
What can I do with .pub files now that Publisher is gone?
Your best immediate option is to convert the .pub file to PDF so you can at least view and share the content. OpenAny can do this free, with no account required, and deletes your file within 60 seconds. If you need an editable version, LibreOffice Draw also opens .pub files and is free to download.
Will converting .pub to PDF preserve my layout?
For most files, yes — PDF captures the visual layout as Publisher rendered it, including text positions, images, and colors. Complex files with custom fonts you no longer have installed may show substitutions, but the overall structure is typically preserved. If precision matters, check the PDF output against what you remember the original looking like.
Can I edit the .pub file after converting it to PDF?
Not directly — PDF is a fixed-layout format, so you lose editability. If you need to edit the content, open the .pub file in LibreOffice Draw first, make your changes there, and then export to PDF or Word. LibreOffice Draw is free and has reasonably good .pub support for most standard Publisher documents.
